Finite Element Analysis

Parts reduced to small elements

  • Boundary conditions and loads applied (derived from LifeMOD™ simulation model crash info)
  • Stresses and strains in the parts can be analyzed
  • Used to check for weak points and to test the use of different materials
  • Ensures that components do not fail at forces below the impact forces, but yield at forces approaching injury levels for other body structures.

Models validated through physical tensile destructive testing of components.

Yield and ultimate fracture loads applied to the model using the same constraints.

If yield and fracture data agree with those of the physical tests, model is validated in terms of constraints and mesh types being correct.
