Hello, My name is Rob Rodgers and I am the parent of an 11 year old racer. Yesterday 11/23/2008 while training my son had an unfortunate accident, that required medical attention. We have been using your product for close to 2 years and he never rides without his leatt brace. Well yesterday his leatt brace did exactly what it was intended to do, limit the severity of injuries.
My son hit a jump that he has hit hundreds of times in his 8 years of racing, however he did make a mistake and well, he landed front tire first off a pretty big jump. He was unable to correct the mistake and went over the bars face first with the bike and his body flipping him into a mangled mess. As a EMT Fire Chief, I new it could be bad, when I got to him he was able to move but had lots of pain in his leg and blood was pouring from his face.
When we got him to the hospital, they examined him with several x-rays and all was good with his spine, neck and legs, not so good for his left brow area. He did receive 4 stitches to his left brow, and lots of bruises and road rash.
I am writing this letter to inform you of my heartfelt gratitude that you developed a product that can and will limit and protect against serious injuries. I have seen lots of talk out there about how your product limits mobility and can be more hazardous than not wearing one. I witnessed the severity of my sons crash and I will and he will tell you if not for his leatt brace, theirs a strong possibility he would not be walking.
I am not writing this looking for anything, other than please share this letter with your people and let them know that YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE. I have enclosed pictures of the leatt brace, Helmet and goggles he was wearing when this accident occurred, the picture of the goggles shows the force of the impact when the visor broke and went into the goggles, and punctured but did not penetrate through and then was forced up and that is what caused the puncture to his brow area.
